Jamshedpur, May 22: Thunderstorms and lightning are expected to take place at a few isolated places over Jharkhand today.

An alert of gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) was also issued for some places today.
Tomorrow, May 23 thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) are expected at a few isolated places over the state.

An east-west trough runs from a cyclonic circulation over Haryana to the cyclonic circulation over east Bangladesh across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal at 1.5 km above the mean sea level.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some parts of the Southeast Arabian Sea, some parts of Maldives, Comorin area and South Bay of Bengal and some parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Andaman Sea during the next two days.
A cyclonic circulation lies over the Southwest Bay of Bengal coast and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal by today.
It is very likely to move northeastwards and concentrate into a depression over central parts of the Bay of Bengal by the morning of May 24.
It would continue to move northeastwards and intensify further thereafter.
