Thunderstorm and lightning activity, along with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, may continue at isolated places on September 10.

Low-pressure system weakens

The IMD said the well-marked low-pressure area over north-west Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south-west Uttar Pradesh weakened into a low-pressure area over the same region at 8.30 am on Saturday.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilts southwards with height. It is expected to remain nearly stationary over the region during the next 24 hours.

Multiple weather systems influencing Jharkhand

Several atmospheric systems continue to influence weather conditions over Jharkhand.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from Sri Ganganagar through Narnaul, the centre of the low-pressure area over north-west Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south-west Uttar Pradesh, Sidhi and Daltonganj to Bankura, before extending eastwards towards Tripura.

Another trough extending from south Haryana to south Assam passes across the cyclonic circulation associated with the low-pressure area, Jharkhand, northern Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.

A third trough extending from south Gujarat to north Bangladesh also passes across the cyclonic circulation over north-west Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south-west Uttar Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.

With these systems remaining active, Jharkhand is likely to witness variable weather, intermittent thunderstorms and isolated rain, rather than a widespread spell of heavy rainfall in the coming days.

Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorms and gusty winds.
