Jamshedpur, June 25: A weak monsoon has resulted in a rainfall deficit of 65 per cent in Jharkhand so far.
According to rainfall statistics, against a normal of 132.2 mm rainfall Jharkhand has actually so far received 46.4 mm of rain ever since the arrival of monsoon resulting in a deficit of 65 per cent.
This year monsoon has set in over Jharkhand on June 21, after a delay of six days.
Statistics further revealed that all 24 districts were facing a rain deficit so far due to a weak monsoon.
Garhwa district was facing the highest deficit of 91% followed by Pakur which was facing a rain deficit of 88%.
East Singhbhum district was facing a rain deficit of 86% while Sahibganj was facing a rain deficit of 84%. Palamu was facing a deficit of 80%.
Capital Ranchi was facing rain deficit of 45 per cent . Similarly, all the other districts figured in the rain losers list so far.
Today’s forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre suggested thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind at a few isolated places over the state.
The northern limit of monsoon was today passing through Veraval, Rajpipla, Ujjain Vidisha, Siddhi, Chaibasa (West Singhbhum), Haldia, Pakur and Sahibganj.
Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar in the next three days.
