PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Sept 13: Monsoon currents have fallen weak over Jharkhand and this will result in light to moderate rain today.

The forecast, however, suggests heavy rain in some isolated pockets on Saturday (September 14) and Sunday (September 15).

Jharkhand was currently facing a rain deficit of 15 per cent. Weathermen said the deficit figure is likely to come down in the next four to five days.

Meanwhile, the upper air cyclonic circulation over west-central Myanmar was lying over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over coastal Bangladesh and neighbourhood during the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, it is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over coastal west Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Amritsar, Delhi, the centre of depression over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood, Nowgong, Churk, Dehri, Purulia, Canning and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
