Jamshedpur, Feb 6: Mystery shrouds the death of a 20-year-old youth whose decomposed body was found in a pond at Haldipokhar under the Kowali Thana area near Jamshedpur.
Identified as Debabrata Rajak, the deceased was missing for the past four days, leading the family members to lodge a missing person report with the concerned Thana.
Decomposed body identified by family
Though the anxious family members had been searching for the youth in every possible place ever since he had gone missing, his body was found in the shrubs-filled pond near his house on Monday evening.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) for postmortem.

The body was decomposed beyond recognition, but the family members identified it from the clothes he had put on and a steel ‘kada’ he was wearing on his right wrist. Later on, the police recovered his mobile phone from his pants’ pocket.
No clue to suggest murder
Although the police are yet to say anything conclusively about the reason behind the youth’s death, the family members claimed he must have been murdered before his body being dumped in the pond.
Kowali Thana OC, Ranjit Oraon said they have got the numbers in the mobile phone checked up thoroughly, but no clue could be got from them suggesting it to be a case of murder.
“We are, therefore, waiting for the postmortem report on the basis of which it can be determined whether it is a case of murder or something else,” said Oraon while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
