Dhanbad, Feb 22: Dhanbad POCSO Court on Thursday sentenced a youth identified as Dinesh Karmkar (26), a resident of Topchachi block, to 20 years in jail for abduction and rape of a minor girl.
The Addition Public Prosecutor (APP) told media persons that the POCSO Court of Special Judge Prabhakar Singh besides 20 years in jail also slapped a penalty of Rs 15,000 on the accused in this two-year-old case.
As per the FIR lodged in Topchachi police station on December 16, 2022, by the father of the victim girl, the girl had gone out of the house in the morning of December 14, 2022. When she did not return home till late afternoon family members searched her at all possible places but did not get any information.

Later, a youth of village Sahil Ansari informed him from a mobile call that Dinesh Karmkar has taken her to Chennai. The mother of the victim during trial also alleged that in 2021 accused had raped her after calling to his house.
After an investigation, Topchachi police filed a charge sheet in the court on December 31st, 2022. A total of 10 witnesses were cross-examined during the trial.
