Dhanbad, April 25: Dr. R.N. Prasad, a renowned physician and former Civil Surgeon of Deoghar, has been appointed as the National Vice-President of the IMA Medical Students Network (MSN) Standing Committee.

This appointment marks a significant achievement for both Jharkhand and Deoghar, as it highlights the growing prominence of the state in the national medical community.

Importance of MSN and New Role
The Medical Students Network (MSN) is a wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), focused on uniting medical students from across the country to promote IMA’s objectives.

Dr. Sharad Kumar, State Convener of the Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSHSA), expressed pride in Dr. Prasad’s appointment, noting that it reflects positively on Deoghar and Jharkhand.
“Having two doctors from Deoghar—Dr. D. Tiwari and Dr. R.N. Prasad—appointed to national roles is a proud moment for our district. We are grateful to the IMA and JSHSA state bodies for recognizing and honouring the talent from Deoghar,” said Dr. Sharad Kumar, State Convener of JSHSA.
Felicitation Ceremony
To celebrate Dr. Prasad’s new role, a special function was held at the Sadar Hospital conference hall on Thursday evening, organized by the IMA and JSHSA.
The event highlighted Dr. Prasad’s work as a physician and his contributions as a civil surgeon. Attendees expressed confidence that Dr. Prasad would elevate Jharkhand’s profile at the national level.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Deoghar IMA District President Dr. D. Tiwari, Secretary Dr. Gauri Shankar, and other members of the IMA and JSHSA, such as Dr. Barnbal, ACMO Dr. P.K. Sharma, Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Dr. Alok Kumar, Dr. Aniket, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Sanchayan.
Additional doctors, including Dr. Nishant Chourasia, Dr. Bibhu Bibodh, Dr. Nitish, Dr. Nivedita, Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Ravi Kumar, and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, were also present to honor Dr. Prasad.
