THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, January 7: Jharkhand’s traditional greeting “Johar” will resonate on the global stage for the first time as Chief Minister Hemant Soren participates in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, scheduled to be held in Davos from January 19 to 23.

With this, Hemant Soren will become the first tribal public representative from Jharkhand to mark his presence at the prestigious global forum.

Jharkhand to Showcase Investment Potential

The Chief Minister–led delegation aims to position Jharkhand as a major global investment destination, highlighting opportunities and government support across key sectors such as critical minerals, mining, electronics and electronic components manufacturing, electric vehicles and automobiles, renewable energy, textiles, tourism, and forest-based products.

The visit aligns with the State’s long-term development roadmap under Vision 2050, as Jharkhand continues efforts to accelerate growth while maintaining ecological balance.

Global Outreach and Investor Engagement

During the Davos meet, the delegation will engage in direct dialogue with global industry leaders, multinational corporations, and international organisations to explore new investment opportunities in Jharkhand’s priority sectors.

The State will be projected as a land of “infinite opportunities”, especially significant as Jharkhand marks its 25th year of statehood.

Jharkhand Among Select States at India Pavilion

At the India Pavilion in Davos, the Union Government will be represented along with delegations from select states. Jharkhand is among the six states chosen by the Central Government to participate.

Jharkhand will present itself under the theme “Growth in Harmony with Nature,” reflecting its commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

Global Participation at Davos 2026

The World Economic Forum 2026 is expected to witness participation from nearly 3,000 delegates representing around 130 countries. The meeting may also be attended by US President Donald Trump.

The overarching themes for WEF 2026 are “A Spirit of Dialogue” and “Unlocking New Sources of Growth,” under which key global economic and strategic issues will be discussed.

About the World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum is among the world’s most influential platforms, bringing together heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, and financial institutions to deliberate on global economic, technological, and strategic challenges.

The Jharkhand government believes participation at WEF will help foster direct global engagement, accelerate economic growth, and boost employment opportunities, while preparing future generations to navigate global challenges.
