Dhanbad, August 22: K Prabhakar Rao, General Secretary of the Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA), has been nominated as the leader of the Indian squad for the upcoming Paris Paralympics, scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 8.
Rao, who also served as the team manager and coach for India’s Para-Badminton squad during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, helped athletes achieve a historic milestone by securing four medals, including two golds in the badminton event. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Paralympic Committee of India.

JBA lauds Rao’s nomination
Members and officials of the Jharkhand Badminton Association have lauded Rao’s nomination as the Indian squad leader, expressing confidence that the athletes will deliver an even better performance in Paris. “He has proven to be a lucky manager for the Indian team in the Paralympics, and we anticipate an even better performance than in Tokyo,” said an association official from Jamshedpur.
When contacted, Rao expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve significant success. “We have a dedicated group of 13 athletes who have trained rigorously for this event. I am optimistic that we can secure at least 8 medals, including 2 gold medals,” said Rao.
He further emphasized the hard work and determination of the athletes, underscoring their readiness to compete on the global stage. “Our athletes are prepared to give their best, and I am proud to lead them on this journey,” he added.
