Srinagar, Oct 1: In Jammu and Kashmir, voting for the third and final phase of the assembly elections is underway from 7 a.m. and will conclude at 6 p.m.
In this phase, polling is taking place for 40 assembly seats across the Jammu division’s districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur, as well as in the Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts of the valley.
By 11 a.m., the third phase of polling across all 40 assembly constituencies in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a voter turnout of 28.12 per cent.
Till 9 a.m., the voter turnout in the final phase was recorded to be 11.60 per cent.

A total of 39.18 lakh voters will decide the political fate of 415 candidates. The Election Commission has set up 5,030 polling stations for this phase. Special polling stations have been arranged for Kashmiri migrant voters. Special provisions have also been made for sick and disabled voters.
Long queues of voters are visible outside all polling stations. In the valley’s Pattan, Sangrama, Kreeri, Tangmarg, Kunzer, Uri town, and other locations, lines of male voters have already begun to form. Meanwhile, in Jammu division’s Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, RS Pura, and other polling stations, voters dressed in traditional Dogri attire are appearing highly enthusiastic.
All polling stations have been heavily guarded by local police and CRPF personnel to ensure smooth conduct of the voting process. The security arrangements around the polling stations are tight.
On Monday, security measures were taken on roads and highways to ensure safe movement for polling staff and the general public. By Tuesday morning, security forces had been deployed to safeguard sector officers, election observers, candidates, and other officials involved in the election process.
