Ranchi, May 4: The JMM today shot off a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner seeking suspension of the BJP’s recognition as a political party.
JMM Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, in his letter, has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spread hatred against Muslims while addressing election rallies in Palamu, Chaibasa and Sisai during the last two days.
Unparliamentary words against Muslims: JMM
The JMM leader said that the BJP’s star campaigner has used unparliamentary words against Muslims, which will not only disturb communal harmony in Jharkhand but also disturb peace in Jharkhand where Adivasis and Moolwasis have inherited a composite culture.

“The use of religion during election speeches amounts to a violation of the affidavit which the BJP swore in for seeking recognition as a political party in 1980,” he pointed out.
What did Modi say?
The JMM was upset with the prime minister’s election speech in which he had said that the Congress wants to plunder the reservation meant for the SCs, STs and OBCs and share it with Muslims. He has pointed out how the Congress categorised Muslims as OBCs in Karnataka overnight and covered them with privileges of reservation in jobs. Modi also said that the Congress wants to replicate the Karnataka model in the rest of the country once it comes into power but its partners, JMM and RJD, are silent about its design.
Muslims, Pakistan issues crop up after 2nd phase: JMM
Bhattacharya said that the narrative of Muslims and Pakistan have jumped into the electoral discussion after the second phase was over. “It shows the desperation of the BJP,” he added.
He urged the Election Commission to be cautious after the third phase is over on May 7. “I fear that the BJP leaders will spit venom and spread communal hatred even further,” he added.
The JMM leader said that the BJP, instead of discussing its manifesto, talks of the Congress ‘Nyay Patra.’
“However, his tactics will not work. This is not Gujarat, this is Jharkhand, that part of India where people have been martyring since 1823,” he maintained.
