New Delhi, July 16: Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice R Mahadevan were promoted as judges of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced these appointments through the social media platform X.

After their swearing-in, the total number of judges in the court, including the Chief Justice, will again become 34, which is the maximum approved number of judges in the Supreme Court.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh has become the first judge from Manipur to be appointed to the Supreme Court. Justice Mahadevan is currently the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
