Jamshedpur, Oct 27: The JYOTI Club marked a significant milestone today as it kicked off the 40th annual JYOTI Basketball Tournament at Loyola School, Bistupur. This event, a highlight of Jamshedpur’s sporting calendar, showcases the skills and sportsmanship of high school students from 14 local schools and embodies JYOTI’s 53-year legacy of fostering fellowship and humanitarian values among the city’s youth.

Tournament to run from Oct 27 to Oct 29

The tournament will run from October 27 to October 29, bringing together prominent schools, including St. Mary’s English High School, Tarpore Agrico, DBMS Kadma, several Kerala Public Schools, and host Loyola Bistupur. Each school’s team has spent weeks in preparation, hoping to claim the championship title during the tournament’s grand finale on October 29.

JYOTI Club, which began as an organization of high school students united by a commitment to fellowship, has become a key institution in Jamshedpur, promoting leadership, service, and unity among young people. This annual tournament is more than just a series of basketball games; it’s a vibrant celebration of youth and teamwork, values that have been core to JYOTI Club’s mission since its inception.

For three days, the courts at Loyola School will come alive with fast-paced games and high-energy performances, captivating spectators with thrilling rivalries, strategic plays, and displays of athleticism. The tournament will culminate on the evening of October 29 with the much-anticipated championship match, where the city’s top young athletes will compete for the coveted trophy and the honour of adding their names to Jamshedpur’s sporting history.

The 40th JYOTI Basketball Tournament is more than just a competition. It is a celebration of the city’s community spirit, a platform for its youth to shine, and a reminder of the power of sports to unite and inspire across generations.
