Hyderabad, Sept 2: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday suspended MLC K Kavitha, daughter of party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, in the wake of her sharp criticism of senior leaders and allegations that they were tarnishing her father’s image.
The decision, announced through a statement on social media, said her conduct and “anti-party activities” were causing serious damage, prompting KCR to expel her with immediate effect.

Kavitha had recently launched an attack on her cousins, senior leader and former minister T Harish Rao and ex-Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar, accusing them of accumulating wealth and striking an understanding with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of the Congress.

She linked their actions to the CBI probe ordered by the state government into alleged irregularities in the BRS-era Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
Addressing the media a day earlier, she claimed her father’s reputation was being sullied because those close to him had misused his name for personal gain.
She specifically blamed Harish Rao, who headed the irrigation ministry for five years, for major lapses in the project, adding that KCR had kept him at a distance during his second term.

She also alleged that Santosh Kumar and an industrialist were equally responsible for bringing disrepute to KCR.
Her expulsion highlights widening fissures in the BRS, a party already struggling to regain ground after its defeat in last year’s Telangana assembly elections.
