New Delhi, Jan 9: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is making strategic moves ahead of the Delhi elections. He has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the inclusion of the Jat community in Delhi in the central OBC list.

During a press conference, Kejriwal accused PM Modi of betraying Delhi’s Jat community. In his letter, he urged that Jats and all other communities with OBC status in Delhi be included in the central OBC list.

Centre accused of deceiving Jats over OBC reservations for 10 years

Arvind Kejriwal accused the central government of deceiving the Jat community in the name of OBC reservations for the past 10 years. He claimed that in 2015, Jat leaders were invited to a meeting at which a promise was made to include Delhi’s Jat community in the central OBC list. He further stated that in 2019, Amit Shah also promised to include the Jat community in the OBC list.

Kejriwal questioned that while Jat students from Rajasthan receive reservations at Delhi University, those from Delhi’s Jat community are denied the same benefit.

Delhi’s Jat community faces barriers to DU admissions: Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal stated that the absence of the Jat community from the central OBC list deprives thousands of Jat students in Delhi of admissions to Delhi University.

He pointed out that despite being in Delhi’s OBC list, the Jat community does not receive benefits in central government institutions. Kejriwal highlighted that Delhi’s Jat community does not get reservations in college admissions or jobs.

He claimed that the Prime Minister had personally announced that the Jat community would receive reservations but accused both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of making false statements.

Kejriwal mentioned that he had written a letter to the Prime Minister yesterday, reminding him of the promise made to the Jat community.
