New Delhi, Sept 9: The Vice Presidential election began at 10 am in Parliament on Tuesday, with the results scheduled to be declared after counting at 6 pm.
Several senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, turned up at Parliament to cast their votes.

With support from allies such as the TDP and JD(U), the NDA appears to have the numbers firmly on its side.

The contest has pitted NDA nominee and former Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan against opposition-backed candidate, former Supreme Court judge Justice B Sudershan Reddy.
In a moment that drew attention, Kharge was spotted walking alongside Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, greeting him warmly with a handshake.
