Khunti, May 5: In a major step towards strengthening access to justice in rural and tribal areas, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Khunti, on Tuesday flagged off an LED Awareness Van to expand legal outreach in remote regions of the district. The initiative, led by Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman Sri Rasikesh Kumar, is part of a 90-day Intensive Legal Awareness and Outreach Programme conducted under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), Ranchi.
The LED van campaign in Khunti district aims to spread legal literacy, awareness of rights, and information about welfare schemes among people living in hard-to-reach tribal pockets. The van will travel across all six blocks, screening legal awareness videos and the NALSA Song to engage local communities.
90-Day Legal Awareness Programme in Jharkhand
The legal awareness programme in Khunti, launched on April 28, 2026, will run in three phases over 90 days. The focus is on reaching the grassroots population, particularly those in remote, rural, and tribal areas, ensuring they understand their legal rights, entitlements, and available legal aid services.

First Phase: 15 Panchayats Covered
Under the first 15-day schedule, the DLSA Khunti outreach campaign will cover key Panchayats, including Sode, Tirla, Sondari, Heath Gowa, Hakajang, Gutjora, Tamba, Tintila, Tapkara, Kuda, Bakaspur, Tilma, Banai, Sosokutti, and Urikhel. The legal awareness team will travel in the LED van to interact directly with villagers.
Focus on Legal Literacy and Welfare Schemes
During the campaign, the team will promote NALSA schemes, JHALSA initiatives, and Central and State government welfare programmes. Special emphasis will be placed on awareness of legal rights, empowerment of marginalised communities, and access to free legal services.
The use of mobile LED awareness vans in Jharkhand is expected to significantly improve outreach by delivering information in an engaging and accessible format. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen legal empowerment in tribal communities and ensure that the justice delivery system reaches the last mile.
This initiative highlights DLSA Khunti’s continued efforts to bridge the gap between law and society, making legal services accessible, inclusive, and effective for all sections of the population.
