Ranchi, Sept. 6: The Eastern Command of the Indian Army today opened the three-day equipment display ‘Know Your Defence’ for the people here.
Governor Santosh Gangwar and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth inaugurated the show at a glittering ceremony organised at Morhabadi ground. A large number of senior military, civil dignitaries, and school students attended the inauguration ceremony.
Army weapons on display
The fair will continue till Sunday and will have new generation advanced weapons (Sig Sauer and AK 203 rifles, Negev light machine guns, infantry mortars, anti-tank guided missiles and loiter munition systems) on display.
Long-range artillery guns, Bofors and ultra-light howitzers, anti-aircraft guns and air defence radars have also been installed. The visitors had the opportunity to view highly capable modern military vehicles, including All Terrain Vehicles, High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicles, Specialist Mobility Vehicles and Rough Terrain Logistics Vehicles.
Governor praises armed forces
Addressing the festival, the Governor praised the armed forces for their selfless service and dedication to the nation. He said that the valour, valour and discipline of the Indian Army are unique. “This exhibition is not only a display of the unique skills of our army but is also an important source of discipline and inspiration for the youth,” he added.
Our country is self-reliant in terms of weapons
The Governor said that the participation of all three wings of the Indian Army – Army, Air Force and Navy in the exhibition is commendable. He said that through the exhibition, people will get an opportunity to know closely about the latest military equipment, weapons and the growing strength of the Indian Army. It is also a symbol of the country’s progress in the defence sector under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our country is self-sufficient in terms of weapons today. State-of-the-art weapons and equipment are being manufactured in the country itself.
The Governor said that we can sleep peacefully because our brave soldiers protect the borders day and night. He expressed gratitude to all the brave soldiers of the country, who have given their all for the security of the country with their courage and sacrifice.
Weapons exhibition is a source of inspiration for youth
The Governor expressed gratitude towards the sacrifice and dedication of the army personnel, officers and their families and said that their exemplary contribution keeps the country strong and safe. Describing the exhibition as a source of inspiration for the youth, he said that this exhibition will awaken the spirit of serving in the army and will further strengthen the spirit of patriotism and discipline. During the program, the adventure activities displayed by the army and the motorcycle daredevils captivated the audience.
Sanjay Seth expresses gratitude to soldiers and their families
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth expressed gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces for the sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families.
On the occasion, many senior army officials including Lieutenant General Ramchandra Tiwari (GOC in C, Eastern Command), Lieutenant General Rajiv Puri (GOC, Brahmastra Corps), Major General Paramveer Singh Dagar (GOC, Cockerell Division) and military personnel and their family members, dignitaries and school children were present.
