New Delhi, Dec 10: Virat Kohli has moved closer to reclaiming the title of the world’s top ODI batter, climbing to the second position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings.

Rohit Sharma continues to hold the No.1 spot, but Kohli has reduced the gap to just eight rating points after an exceptional run in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

Kohli, who last occupied the top position in April 2021, delivered a dominant performance with 302 runs in the series and was named Player of the Series.

His performance in the series helped propel him two places up the rankings. Rohit, meanwhile, maintained his lead with a total of 146 runs across the series.

Several other Indian players also made notable jumps in the updated rankings. KL Rahul moved up to 12th among ODI batters, while Kuldeep Yadav surged three spots to reach third in the ODI bowlers’ list.

South African players made progress as well, despite losing the high-scoring series 2–1 to India. Quinton de Kock rose to 13th, Aiden Markram climbed to 25th, and Temba Bavuma advanced to 37th in the batting rankings.
