New Delhi, Aug 21: The Lok Sabha proceedings on Thursday began amidst chaos, with opposition MPs once again raising uproar over the Bihar SIR issue. They shouted slogans and disrupted the House, even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present.

With the ruckus showing no signs of abating, the Lok Sabha was first adjourned till 12 noon. The Rajya Sabha too faced disruptions and was adjourned till 2 p.m. When the Lok Sabha resumed in the afternoon, the opposition continued with slogans and protests.

Speaker Om Birla reprimanded the opposition MPs, stating that their conduct was not in line with democratic values and was undermining the dignity of Parliament. He remarked that the people of the country were witnessing how important discussions were being obstructed. Eventually, the Speaker adjourned the Lok Sabha sine die.

Earlier, the Speaker had informed that during the Monsoon Session, only 37 hours of discussion had taken place. A total of 12 bills were passed and oral replies were given to just 55 questions.

The Monsoon Session had begun on July 21 and concluded today, August 21. Throughout the session, opposition MPs repeatedly demanded a debate on the Bihar SIR issue, which was ignored.

On Wednesday, Home Minister Amit Shah had introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha. Opposition members tore copies of the bills and hurled them towards the minister, demanding their withdrawal.

One significant development was the passage of the Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Bill, 2025, which imposes a complete ban on online money games.

However, after the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders boycotted the customary meeting called by Speaker Om Birla to mark the end of the session.
