Heated exchange between Kharge, Dhankhar in Rajya Sabha

In the Rajya Sabha, the proceedings began, but were soon disrupted due to a heated exchange between Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. As soon as the session started, Chairman Dhankhar began speaking, but opposition leaders immediately shouted to allow the Leader of Opposition (LOP) to speak. In response, Dhankhar remarked that he had not even spoken for a second before the opposition began shouting, which he claimed undermined the dignity of the Leader of Opposition. He further emphasized that the Constitution of India had completed 75 years, and that some decorum should be maintained.

Kharge replied by stating that he had contributed 54 years to these 75 years and therefore did not need lessons on propriety. In response, Dhankhar expressed his disappointment, stating that despite offering Kharge due respect, such remarks were hurtful. Following this, Kharge raised the issue of Adani in the Rajya Sabha, but Chairman Dhankhar intervened, stating that any comments on this matter would not be recorded. After a loud protest from the members, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha until November 27.
