Dhanbad, March 10: National badminton player Manisha Rani Tirki of Ranchi continued her dominance in women’s badminton in Jharkhand by winning the singles title (women’s category) at the Asmita Sports Jharkhand Women’s Badminton Championship, organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at Mohan Ahuja Stadium, Jamshedpur.

Manisha Triumphs in Women’s Final

In the final, Manisha defeated Saara of Jamshedpur 21-18, 21-08 to secure the title. While Saara put up a strong fight in the first game, she was unable to withstand Manisha’s aggressive play in the second game.

Saara Wins Under-19 Title

Despite her loss in the women’s singles final, Saara Sharma made a strong comeback by winning the Under-19 singles title. She defeated Ananya Singh of Ranchi in a thrilling final 18-21, 21-11, 22-20.

Both players showcased exceptional skill, with Ananya taking the first game 21-18. However, Saara used her experience and strategic play to dominate the second game, leveling the match at 1-1.

The third and deciding game was an intense battle, with the momentum swinging between both players. In the end, Saara held her nerve to clinch the victory 22-20.

Ananya Claims Under-17 Title

Ananya Singh redeemed herself by winning the Under-17 girls’ singles title, defeating Anuska Kachhap of Jamshedpur 21-09, 21-18.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, Head of Sports at Tata Steel, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He presented trophies and prizes to the winners.

K Prabhakar Rao, Secretary of the Jharkhand Badminton Association, delivered the vote of thanks.

Prize Money Distribution:

  • Winners: ₹10,000
  • Runners-up: ₹8,000
  • Semifinalists: ₹6,000

The tournament successfully highlighted the rising talent in Jharkhand’s badminton circuit, with young players demonstrating remarkable skills and competitive spirit.
