Khunti, January 17: Under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi and the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), Ranchi, the nationwide mediation campaign “Mediation for Nation 2.0” has been launched in Khunti district. The drive commenced on January 2, 2026 and will continue till March 31, 2026.
To ensure effective implementation of the campaign, a meeting of judicial officers was held in the chamber of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Khunti, who presided over the proceedings. The meeting emphasised the need to refer the maximum number of compoundable cases to the Mediation Centre, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Khunti, for settlement through mediation.

Focus on Speedy and Amicable Dispute Resolution
During the meeting, judicial officers were advised to actively identify suitable cases and refer them for mediation so that disputes could be resolved in a speedy, cost-effective and amicable manner, followed by disposal by the concerned courts in terms of the settlement reached.
It was also highlighted that during the earlier phase, “Mediation for Nation 1.0,” a total of 30 cases were successfully resolved in the district through mediation. Drawing from this success, the Principal District and Sessions Judge urged all judicial officers to make every possible effort to enhance referrals under the current campaign.
Wide Range of Cases Covered
The mediation drive will cover all categories of cases having the potential for settlement, including:
- Matrimonial disputes
- Motor accident-related cases
- Compoundable criminal cases
- Cheque dishonour (cheque bounce) cases
- Consumer disputes
- Suitable civil cases
Providing details, Kamlesh Behra, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Khunti, said that mediation promotes mutual understanding between parties while reducing litigation burden and ensuring timely justice.
