Jamshedpur, March 19: Tata Motors has finalised its long-awaited grade revision agreement at its Jamshedpur plant, announcing an average salary hike of ₹20,000 or more for employees. The agreement, signed between the management and the workers’ union on Thursday, will benefit over 7,300 employees.

In a first for the Jamshedpur plant, the Tata Motors grade revision pact has been concluded before the expiry of the current term, signalling improved coordination between management and the union.

The development is being seen as a major milestone in industrial relations at Tata Motors Jamshedpur.

₹20,000 Salary Hike, Bonus Likely

As per initial estimates, employees will receive an average salary increase of ₹20,000, including both direct and indirect components. There are also positive indications regarding bonus payouts, further boosting overall earnings.

With the revised pay structure, senior employees’ salaries are expected to cross ₹1 lakh per month, reflecting a significant jump in compensation.

What the Grade Revision Covers

The Tata Motors workers’ union agreement includes revisions in:

  • Basic pay
  • Variable pay components
  • Allowances and other employee benefits

The previous agreement, signed in 2022 for a four-year term, had delivered an average hike of ₹17,000 per employee.

Talks Focused on Wages, Welfare, Bonuses

Over the past few days, intensive negotiations between the management and the union focused on key issues such as:

  • Wage revision
  • Bonus structure
  • Employee welfare measures

These discussions culminated in the formal signing of the agreement on Thursday.

Apna Ghar Yojana Still Pending

Despite the positive developments, employees remain concerned about the long-pending Apna Ghar Yojana, which has remained unresolved for nearly nine years, even after earlier approval at the union level.

Employees Welcome the Move

The announcement has generated strong optimism among Tata Motors employees, many of whom had been awaiting the revision.

“This agreement provides much-needed financial relief and recognises our efforts. The early finalisation has also boosted employee confidence,” said a senior worker.

Meanwhile, the grade revision process at Tata Cummins has also gathered pace, with discussions moving towards a timely settlement.

Employees are particularly hopeful about key changes in the ACP (Assured Career Progression) scheme.
