Daltonganj, August 24: Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj, will have two students from Meghalaya in the ongoing 2026-27 academic session, according to sources.
Sources said that under the provisions of the National Medical Commission (NMC), MMCH Daltonganj has been admitting two students from the northeastern state of Meghalaya since 2019, when the medical college began its MBBS programme.
Two Central Nominee Seats for Meghalaya
MMCH Daltonganj Principal Dr Jakka Srinivas Rao said the college is looking forward to admitting two students from Meghalaya in the current academic session.
“We are looking forward to having two students from Meghalaya. This is apart from the 15 seats under the All India quota,” Rao said.
The two seats are classified as Central Nominee seats, with Meghalaya listed on the college’s panel, according to medical sources.
The medical college has an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students, a capacity it has maintained since its inception in 2019.

MBBS Admission Deadline Extended
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi, has issued a directive extending the deadline for admission to the first year of MBBS courses.
According to Principal Rao, the extended deadline for admission is September 5.
The extension is expected to provide additional time for eligible candidates to complete the admission process.
Palamu Has Another Private Medical College
Palamu district also has another private medical institution, Laxmi Chandravanshi Medical College and Hospital, which is owned by the family of former Jharkhand Health Minister Ramchander Chandravanshi.
According to a letter issued by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB), Ranchi, the Laxmi Chandravanshi Medical College and Hospital has 15 seats under the All India quota, similar to Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital in Saraikela-Kharsawan district of the Kolhan region.
