Tianjin, Sept 1: At the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, leaders from member states gathered in Tianjin on Monday to outline their vision for the bloc’s future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other heads of state joined the high-level discussions, which China hosting this year as the presiding nation.
The summit, described as the largest in the SCO’s history, saw China extend invitations to 20 foreign leaders and 10 chiefs of international organisations, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, for the parallel SCO Plus forum.

Chinese President Xi Jinping formally launched the gathering with a grand banquet on Sunday evening, welcoming Modi, Putin, and fellow leaders ahead of the day-long deliberations.
Monday’s sessions were dedicated to charting the way forward for the regional grouping.
