Daltonganj, October 27: Money, muscle, and machine may resurface in the Panki assembly constituency during this Vidhan Sabha election as political frustrations are too enormous.
The Panki assembly constituency has a nasty history of a combination of all three—money, muscle, and machine (read gun). Very few candidates here are exceptions to these three. There were blatant instances when contestants in this constituency took the support of the two arch-rival outfits of the Naxals, the Party Unity and the MCC.
Politics of hate and animosity
The Panki assembly constituency is feverishly warming up politically. Lit, it looks calm and sedate to any outsider or observer, but deep within it, this assembly constituency is boiling with politics of hate and animosity. It’s hate for each other.
Money, machines and muscles may again come out to play a very dangerous role. Money will be for freebies. Muscles will be to subjugate the voters. Machines to overawe the voters.
Palamu admin gears up to curb unlawful activities
The Palamu administration has also braced up to thwart any unlawful activities. It has kept a close eye on the messages of the social media platform.
Licensed arms are back to the police stations in this constituency like at all other police stations but there is no count of the illicit arms here in this constituency. There are more illicit firearms here than mosquito nets, goes an old saying here.
Freebies and money here in this Panki assembly constituency will emerge as a major inducement to the voters. A night before voting is a night of money and money here only.
Multi billionaires having a fleet of SUVs are contesting this election and have at their command huge money and muscles. They know how and when to use both.
Property affidavits submitted by a couple of contestants in their nomination papers prove their abundance of wealth.
Recently there occurred an episode here in this constituency which ‘appears to be a dirty mix of money, muscle and machine’.
24 new factory-fresh Hero motorcycles under scrutiny
State Tax sleuths intercepted a TATA 112-type truck carrying 24 new factory fresh Hero motorcycles under the limits of the Lesliganj police station in Palamu.
The interceptive team was led by the state taxes officer, Daltonganj circle Ankesh Alankaar.
For some pretty long hours, there was no official version of this interception either by the state tax officials or by the district police. All that was said investigation is on which is very legitimate also.
The district police issued a press note stating the said truck with 24 new factory Hero motorcycles had been seized at the Lesliganj police station under the provisions of the state taxes and BNS.
SDPO Jha said, “It’s the state tax officials who intercepted this truck with 24 new factory fresh Hero motorcycles.”
The truck with 24 motorcycles was en route to Tarhassi under the Panki assembly constituency from Daltonganj.
SDPO Jha said, “The interception was done around 4.30 Friday evening. The driver of the truck didn’t produce any invoice then on the spot.”
“After 90 minutes of the interception, the driver produced an Invoice. As Invoice is issued online, its timing was 6 pm,” he said.
The SDPO Lesliganj further said, “This online Invoice is a damage control exercise by the vested interests. It is to convert a foul play into fair.”
“Had the driver of the truck carrying motorcycles produced the Invoice right on the spur of the moment when the truck and its goods were intercepted by the state taxes, no one would have raised any red herrings but now a delayed online Invoice showing time as 6 pm creates enough room for a thorough police investigation.” reiterated Jha.
The delayed online Invoice showed this motorcycle consignment to a particular bike showroom at Tarhassi market.
Police suspect these bikes may be used as freebies in the coming assembly election under the Panki assembly constituency due on November 13.
The Panki assembly constituency has a couple of contestants who in their affidavits attached to the nomination papers are multi-billionaires.
These factory-fresh motorcycles are under the cloud of scrutiny.
Police sources said prima facie these factory fresh motorcycles were not part of pre Diwali sale for bikes. It was meant to influence or lure the votes’ manipulators.
Sources said there is a great apprehension of sarees being distributed ahead of the Chhath Puja here. The Panki constituency is popular for these freebies.
People are bound to raise the bogey of ‘Aastha’ if and when the administration cracks the whip for adherence to the model code of conduct.
SDPO Jha said police have invoked sections of state taxes as well as suitable sections of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita as attempts were made to sneak in freebies.
