National U-13 Badminton: UP, Tamil Nadu, Bengal boys secure easy wins

Ranchi, Sept 27: Boys from Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, alongside girls from Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Delhi, registered comfortable victories in the qualifying rounds of the National Sub Junior (Under-13) Badminton Ranking Tournament held at the Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon.

According to NK Dey, Secretary of the Ranchi District Badminton Association, the second day of the qualifying rounds featured a total of 30 boys’ singles matches and 27 girls’ singles matches. On the first day, 75 matches were completed.

Dey further explained that 32 boys and 32 girls in the singles category, along with 16 boys’ and girls’ doubles pairs, will advance to the main draw based on their performance in the qualifying rounds. Five players from Jharkhand have been granted wild card entries.

The main draw matches are set to commence tomorrow.

Among the players who secured victories in the second day’s qualifying rounds were Shivesh Gupta (Uttar Pradesh), Jero J Sibi (Tamil Nadu), and Archis Bhattacharjee (West Bengal) in the boys’ singles.

In the girls’ singles category, Khanak Sahu (Chhattisgarh), Saanvi Gaur (Delhi), and Manya Tadvi (Gujarat) emerged as winners.
