As Haryana Cabinet ministers, BJP leaders Mool Chand Sharma, Jai Parkash Dalal, Banwari Lal, and Kanwar Pal Gujjar also took an oath of office. Independent MLA Ranjit Singh Chautala also took the oath of office as a minister.

Shortly after Manohar Lal Khattar and his Cabinet tendered their resignations to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya earlier in the day, Nayab Singh Saini, aged 54, was unanimously chosen as the BJP’s Legislative Party leader in the presence of Haryana-in-charge Biplab Dev and Khattar.

54-year-old Kurukshetra MP Saini, who won the Kurukshetra seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of more than 3.83 lakh votes over his closest opponent, Indian National Congress (INC) member Nirmal Singh, was named the Haryana BJP state president in October of last year.

Considered Manohar Lal Khattar’s confidante, Saini was initially elected as an MLA in 2014 and has since held ministerial positions.
