Ranchi, April 7: In a major step to improve law and order in fast-growing areas, the Jharkhand government has approved the upgrade of Padma OP in Hazaribagh to a full police station and the creation of a new police outpost near Deoghar Airport.

The decisions were taken during a high-level committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari.
Why Deoghar Airport Needs a Dedicated Police Outpost
Deoghar Airport, officially known as Baba Baidyanath Airport, plays a crucial role in improving regional connectivity and promoting tourism. Located about 7 km from Kunda police station and 12 km from the district headquarters, the airport has seen a steady increase in passenger movement. However, the distance from existing police stations has made it difficult to respond quickly to emergencies.

With rising security concerns and limited access to the airport area, the state government approved the setup of a new police outpost. This move aims to improve safety for travellers and residents alike. Around ₹4 crore has been allocated for this project.
The meeting also included key officials, such as Home Department Principal Secretary Vandana Dadel, Personnel Secretary Praveen Toppo, Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan, Revenue Secretary Chandrashekhar, and IG Headquarters Manoj Kaushik.
