New Delhi, June 7: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against an accused linked to the targeted killing of Indian Army personnel Motiram Achala, who was gunned down by Maoists in Chhattisgarh last year.

The accused, Ashu Korsa of Bijapur district, has been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act before the NIA Special Court in Jagdalpur, the agency announced in an official statement.

The investigation revealed that Korsa, an armed cadre of the Kuyemari Area Committee under the CPI (Maoist)’s North Bastar Division, had conspired with a senior Maoist leader to eliminate Achala.
The victim was shot dead in front of his family at the Useli village fair in Kanker district’s Amabeda area on February 25, 2024.
Originally registered by local police, the case was handed over to the NIA on February 29, 2024.

Investigators found that the killing was part of a broader conspiracy by the proscribed CPI (Maoist) to instill fear among the local population.
Korsa was arrested by the NIA in December 2024 for his role in the plot.

The NIA stated that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
