Sukma, Jan 11: Nine Naxalites, including two women, surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Saturday. These individuals, collectively carrying bounties worth ₹43 lakh, were wanted for several deadly attacks on security forces.
Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan stated that the cadres cited disillusionment with the Maoist ideology, internal conflicts within the organization, and pressure from intensified security operations as reasons for their surrender.

The rebels, including Ransai alias Oyam Buska, a commander with an ₹8 lakh bounty, and Pradip alias Ravva Rakesh, also carrying ₹8 lakh on his head, had participated in some of the deadliest Maoist attacks.
These included the 2007 Ranibodli attack in Bijapur, which claimed 55 security personnel, the 2017 Burkapal ambush, killing 25 CRPF personnel, and the 2020 Minpa ambush, which left 17 security forces dead.
The official noted the influence of the state government’s ‘Niyad Nellanar’ development initiative and the intensified crackdown on Maoists, including the establishment of police camps in remote areas, as instrumental in prompting the surrenders.
