Nishikant Dubey calls for delimitation to address Bangladeshi infiltration in Santhal Pargana

THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, March 12: BJP MP from Godda, Nishikant Dubey, raised the issue of the rising number of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Jharkhand’s Santhal Pargana region in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

He emphasized that the next delimitation should exclude them, as their presence is affecting the reservation of seats for tribals.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour, Dubey urged the government to address the issue by considering the creation of a separate state for Santhal Pargana.

He also suggested that if necessary, the imposition of President’s Rule in Jharkhand should be considered. However, he clarified that this was not a Hindu-Muslim issue but a matter of demographic impact on tribal communities.

Muslim population in Santhal Pargana rose from 9% to 24%

Nishikant Dubey stated that between 1951 and 2011, the Muslim population across the country increased by 4%, whereas in Santhal Pargana, it surged by 15%, attributing this rise to Bangladeshi infiltrators.

According to the BJP MP, the tribal population in Santhal Pargana was 45% in 1951, but by 2011, it had declined to just 28%, while the Muslim population grew from 9% to 24% during the same period.

Expressing concern, Dubey urged that delimitation should be conducted by excluding Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Notably, during the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Nishikant Dubey, along with Himanta Biswa Sarma and other BJP leaders, had aggressively raised the issue of illegal Bangladeshi migrants. However, the issue did not yield significant electoral gains. Now, Dubey has once again brought the matter to the Parliament.
