Daltonganj, Nov 14: The dispatch centre of the five assembly constituencies set up here in the GLA College ground today wore an easy look.
Polling parties were seen relaxed and happy to deposit their polled and unpolled EVMs and other poll materials.
The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to half a dozen polling parties today which said “The arrangement was better than the one they had during the Lok Sabha election where chaos was evident.”
The Jharkhand Story correspondent traced the Nodal Officer of the dispatch centre Md Jawed Hussain, a 2018 batch IAS officer and at present city commissioner of Medininagar.
Excerpts of the conversation held by the side of the car at the dispatch centre today
Q: 1796 polling parties. More than 1,000 four-wheelers to negotiate all types of roads like rural roads, state highways and national highways to reach and bring back polling parties in the nearest to the far-flung areas between the two rivers Koyel and Amanat. How did you people go about it?
A: It was really a tremendous surface transportation. A huge bulk of polling parties were on the wheels. Our traffic cops did a wonderful job. They ensured a jam-free transportation. It was an arduous task and the traffic cops did it very well. We had readied a flaw-free traffic plan.

Q: Since you were the Nodal Officer of the dispatch centre here, what were the things that you unlearnt?
A: Unlearnt? The one unlearnt thing was not to allow the vast expanse of the topography of the district Palamu to overcome you. It’s huge, long and wide, nevertheless, we traversed hard and most successfully. We reached every end of the district Palamu for an incident-free polling.
Q: Mr Jawed you were the Nodal Officer of SVEEP also. The apathy to polling was evident. Do you agree?
A: I tell you Palamu has a constituency Hussainabad which has a reputation or disreputation to have around 50 percent of the voting in the past. But have a look at this time of the voting percentage here in the Hussainabad assembly constituency. It is far far above 50 percent. So apathy may not be a suitable diction in the present context.
Q: There were some issues with the poll boycott by the voters and not by any other external forces. What have you to say?
A: Sorry. I am not competent to say on it but I know for sure that where there was poll boycott by the voters in the beginning, they after being convinced by the administration voted overwhelmingly.
