Ranchi, April 21: Barely a couple of hours after the INDI Alliance’s ‘Nyay Ulgulan Rally’ in Ranchi the Congress released another list of its Lok Sabha candidates dropping Deepika Pandey Singh as its candidate from Godda and replacing her with Pradeep Yadav against BJP’s three time MP Nishikant Dubey on Sunday.
In the list names were finalized for two Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, where former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay’s daughter Yashaswini Sahay has been given a chance to contest from Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency this time.
Notably, Deepika Pandey Singh was facing protests from within the party as Congress workers had asked the high command to reconsider its decision. Although senior Congress leaders Furkan Ansari and Pradeep Yadav had not spoken openly against her candidature, they had reservations about her selection considering the demography of the constituency.
Sources said that Deepika had to be replaced with Yadav as the senior leaders and party workers wanted either a muslim candidate or an OBC face from the constituency to fight against Nishikant Dibey, who is considered quite and strong leader in the Godda constituency.
However, in Ranchi, Yashaswini Sahay is set to have a strong battle against BJP’s Sanjay Seth, who claims to have support of a large number of urban voters.
The only daughter of former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay and Rekha Sahay, Yas
hvaswani, is an advocate by profession, who is also involved in social work. She is also a theatre artist.
It is being said that the Congress party has bet on a young face in Ranchi this time to target the young voters of the urban area.
Yashaswini was also present during the ‘Nyay Ulgulan Rally’ of the INDI Alliance held in Ranchi on Sunday.
