Kulgam, Sept 8: A joint counter-terror operation in the Guddar forest of Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, led to the elimination of one terrorist, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed on Monday. During the intense encounter, a junior commissioned officer sustained injuries, the Army said.
The operation was launched following a specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. In coordination with the J&K police and Srinagar CRPF, Indian Army troops conducted a search in the forested area.

According to the Chinar Corps’ post on X: “COP GUDDAR, Kulgam. Based on specific intelligence input by JKP, a joint search operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in Guddar forest of #Kulgam.”

The Army added that vigilant forces observed suspicious activity, and when challenged, the terrorists opened fire. This triggered a fierce gunfight, resulting in the death of one terrorist and injuries to the junior commissioned officer.
Operations at the site are still ongoing, with the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir, Army, and CRPF actively engaged, Kashmir zonal police reported.
