New Delhi, August 11: Led by Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, INDIA bloc leaders marched from Parliament to the Election Commission of India (ECI) office to protest against alleged “voter fraud” during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.

However, Delhi Police stopped them midway by placing barricades, leading to minor arguments and jostling between the police and opposition leaders.

Police detained several INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sanjay Raut, and Sagarika Ghose.

During the march, TMC MP Mitali Bagh lost consciousness. Lok Sabha Leader Rahul Gandhi gave her water and helped her reach a car.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the government was cowardly and afraid. Rahul Gandhi said that the reality is clear before the nation, adding that this was not a political fight but a battle to protect the Constitution, ensure one person one vote, and secure a clean voter list.

The protest march began from the Makar Dwar of Parliament House and saw participation from MPs of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, DMK, and other parties.

Rahul Gandhi was joined by Priyanka Gandhi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, with all leaders carrying placards that read slogans such as “SIR is an attack on democracy” and “Vote theft will not be tolerated.”

Several MPs, including Akhilesh Yadav, climbed over and jumped across the police barricades. Speaking to the media, Akhilesh alleged that vote theft had occurred in Uttar Pradesh and several other states.

He said that when complaints exist, the Election Commission must take action, adding that the opposition wants to raise the issue in Parliament but the government is unwilling to listen.
