Padma Shri awardee Ashok Bhagat calls for putting an end to plastic items

Ranchi, July 26: Noted social worker and Padma Shri awardee Ashok Bhagat has given a clarion call to put an end to plastic items to save the environment.

Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on ‘environment, climate and water conservation’, organised on July 25, by Parivartan, a voluntary organisation, at Aryabhata Auditorium, Ranchi University, Bhagat said there is a need to end the use of plastic items which hurt the environment.

“Besides, there is also an urgent need to work for conservation of water,” he added.

Parivartan Sanstha also honoured Bhagat with a memento for his excellent work.

Notably, Ashok Bhagat, the founder secretary of Vikas Bharti Bishunpur, has been working for the holistic development of tribals since 1983 in Jharkhand.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion, included IPS officer Sarojini Lakra, SDM Utkarsh Kumar, ICFRE Director Amit Pandey, and NTPC AGM HK Shetty.
