Parliament’s Budget Session to begin with President Murmu’s address on Jan 31

New Delhi, Jan 28: President Droupadi Murmu is set to address both Houses of Parliament on January 31 at 11 a.m. in the Lok Sabha Chamber, marking the commencement of the Budget Session. The Budget Session will be conducted in two phases, as outlined in the Parliamentary Bulletin.

The first phase begins on January 31 and concludes on February 13, with the Union Budget presentation scheduled for February 1. The second phase will start on March 10 and end on April 4.

Discussion on the President’s Address is scheduled over three days—February 3, 4, and 6—with the reply to the Motion of Thanks planned for February 6, 2025. A Member will move the motion, and another will second it during these discussions.

In preparation for the Union Budget, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced an all-party meeting on January 30. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from opposition leaders to ensure smooth discussions during the session.
