New Delhi, Feb 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that M S Swaminathan, an agricultural scientist, and former prime ministers P V Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh will be conferred the Bharat Ratna.
“Narasimha Rao steered India through critical transformations and also enriched its cultural and intellectual heritage,” PM Modi stated on X.
Modi attributed India’s economic advancement and the establishment of a strong foundation for prosperity and growth to Rao’s visionary leadership.

“Bharat Ratna to Charan Singh dedicated to his incomparable contribution to country,” PM Modi stated.
Charan Singh also held the position of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on two occasions and is celebrated for his advocacy on behalf of farmers.
