Imphal, Sept 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Manipur on Saturday, marking his first visit to the state since the ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities erupted in May 2023.
He is expected to lead a major roadshow in Imphal and Churachandpur, address large public gatherings, and meet families displaced by the violence.

During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate development projects worth ₹8,500 crore for both the hill and valley districts, aiming to boost infrastructure and rehabilitation efforts.

Before reaching Manipur, the Prime Minister launched projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Mizoram, including the Bairabi–Sairang railway line, which he described as a historic step that brought the state capital Aizawl onto India’s railway map.
Bad weather forced him to address the Mizoram rally virtually from Lengpui Airport instead of the planned venue at Lammual Ground.
