New Delhi, Sept 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Saturday.

In his tribute on X, the PM mentioned that Bhagat Singh gave his life to safeguard the honour of the motherland.

“Hundreds of salutations to the immortal martyr Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary, who sacrificed his life to protect the self-respect of the motherland”, PM Modi posted on X.

Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also paid homage to Bhagat Singh on his 117th birth anniversary, stating that his bravery, sacrifice, and martyrdom will forever serve as an inspiration to everyone.

“Humble tribute to the great revolutionary Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh ji on his birth anniversary. His courage, sacrifice and martyrdom will always be a source of inspiration for all of us,” Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X.

महान क्रांतिकारी शहीद-ए-आज़म भगत सिंह जी की जयंती पर उन्हें विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि।

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid homage to him.

“On the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh ji, a great freedom fighter who sacrificed everything for the independence of the country, we pay our respects to him. Bhagat Singh wrote continuously against the divisive forces in society and raised his voice against inequality. Till date, he is a source of inspiration for millions of youth because of this thinking, Kharge posted on X.

Born in 1907, Bhagat Singh was sentenced to death by the British at the age of 23 for his participation in revolutionary activities and stands as a powerful symbol of India’s resistance to colonial rule.
