New Delhi, Sept 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana for Bihar through video conferencing, describing it as a major step to boost women’s economic empowerment.
As part of the launch, Rs 10,000 each was directly credited into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women, amounting to a total disbursement of Rs 7,500 crore.

The scheme provides an initial financial grant of Rs 10,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer, while beneficiaries will also have access to further assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh in later phases.

Women can use the support for income-generating activities of their choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, tailoring, weaving, handicrafts, and other small businesses.
During the programme, the Prime Minister held direct interactions with the recipients, many of whom thanked both him and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while praising the initiative as a source of new opportunities.
