SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Jan 19: To ensure the peaceful celebration of Saraswati Puja in Dhanbad, the district police administration has imposed a complete ban on DJ music and the construction of puja pandals on roads, officials said on Sunday.

Police authorities stated that the use of DJs during Saraswati Puja celebrations and idol immersion is strictly prohibited. Any violation will invite legal action not only against the puja organizers but also against the DJ operators.

In addition, the use of loudspeakers or loud music after 10 pm has been banned in accordance with noise pollution norms.

Strict guidelines to maintain law and order

To maintain peace and law and order during the festival, the police have issued strict guidelines. Forced collection of donations from residents or commercial vehicle operators in the name of Saraswati Puja has also been prohibited. Officials clarified that donations must be purely voluntary and collected strictly within the framework of the law.

A senior police official said the district police have been put on high alert to maintain peace and harmony during the festival. Extensive preparations have been made across the district to ensure the puja is conducted smoothly.

Vigil against obscenity and intoxication

Peace committee meetings are being held in all police station areas, where clear instructions are being communicated to puja committees, public representatives, social organisations, and local residents.

Police have also directed that obscene or objectionable songs must not be played during the puja. Any violation of these instructions will result in strict legal action against the concerned committee.

Under a special drive, police will maintain strict vigilance against alcohol consumption and use of intoxicants in and around puja pandals. Anyone found intoxicated will face strict action. Additional police forces will be deployed, and regular patrolling will be carried out to keep anti-social elements in check.

Appealing to citizens, police officials said Saraswati Puja is a festival of knowledge, learning, and simplicity, and should be celebrated in a peaceful and disciplined manner. Any form of misconduct, hooliganism, or violation of the law will invite strict action.
