PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Feb 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday spoke to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren to convey her condolences over the untimely death of his 22-year-old grandson, Veer Soren.

The President, who was in Jamshedpur on an official visit, expressed profound grief and extended her deepest sympathies to the bereaved family. She prayed for strength and courage for them to endure the irreparable loss.

The gesture was seen as a mark of personal concern and solidarity with the veteran leader and his family during their hour of sorrow.

Mortal Remains Taken to Ancestral Village

A pall of gloom descended over Jharkhand as the mortal remains of Veer Soren were brought from Tata Main Hospital to his ancestral village, Jilinggoda, on Thursday.

Veer Soren was the grandson of Champai Soren and the son of BJP leader Babulal Soren. Large numbers of family members, well-wishers and residents gathered to pay their final respects.

As his body was taken out of the hospital premises, silence gripped the crowd. Many stood with folded hands and moist eyes, reflecting the affection and regard the young man enjoyed in his community.

The funeral procession witnessed a significant turnout, with villagers and prominent members of society walking in solemn tribute and offering flowers.

Preparations have been made in Jilinggoda village for the last rites, which will be performed according to traditional customs. The grieving family drew strength from the support and solidarity extended by the community.

Sudden Illness in Himachal Pradesh

According to reports, Veer Soren passed away unexpectedly in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

He had travelled to Manali with friends on February 22 and was staying at a homestay in Simsa. On February 23, the group visited Solang and Sethan before returning to their accommodation in the evening.

The next day, after spending time around the homestay, they returned at around 12:30 pm, when Veer went to rest. Later, when he was awakened, he reportedly complained of a severe headache. His friends arranged medicine through an online delivery platform and administered it.

At around 2:30 pm, a loud sound was heard from his room. When his friends rushed in, they found him lying on the floor beside his bed. He was immediately taken by car to the Civil Hospital in Manali.

During the journey, frothing at the mouth was noticed. Doctors at the hospital administered CPR for an extended period, but he was declared dead despite their efforts.

Statewide Condolences

News of his sudden demise sent shockwaves across Jharkhand. Leaders across party lines, along with several social and political organisations, expressed deep grief and extended condolences to the Soren family.

Many described the loss as tragic and irreparable. Veer Soren’s untimely death has left a deep void not only within his family but also among those who knew him.
