Jamshedpur, Dec 29: Monday marked a historic moment at the sacred Dishom Jaher in Karandih, Jamshedpur, as President of India Droupadi Murmu arrived at the venue amid resounding applause and traditional chants.

Along with the Governor of Jharkhand Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the President formally inaugurated the centenary celebrations marking 100 years of the Ol Chiki script.

The venue resonated with patriotic fervour as a pipe band performance and the national anthem filled the atmosphere with discipline and pride.

President Murmu paid homage to nature by performing traditional rituals dedicated to Marang Buru and Jaher Ayo, bowing to the soil in reverence.

Students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls’ School, Bangurda (Patmada), extended a warm musical welcome through a pipe band display. The President warmly acknowledged and appreciated the students’ performance.

The programme commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting. President Droupadi Murmu, along with the Governor and the Chief Minister, jointly lit the lamp to mark the inauguration of the 22nd Santali ‘Parsi Maha’ and the concluding ceremony of the Ol Chiki script centenary celebrations.
