Ranchi, Nov. 19: Jamtara resident Rabilal Hansda, who is doing B.Ed in Sanskrit from Lal Bahadur Shastri Vishwavidyalaya, Delhi, has recently translated Hanuman Chalisa into Olchiki (script of Santhal tribals). Rabilal Hansda, a resident of Jadudih village in Kundhit of Jamtara district, has been worshipping Lord Ram, Hanuman, Bholenath, Mata Durga and other gods and goddesses since childhood, reports Jagran.com.

President Droupadi Murmu will release this Hanuman Chalisa translated by him. President Murmu will attend the initiation ceremony proposed on December 5 as the chief guest.

He has studied many Hindu scriptures. He says that Hanuman was a forest dweller. His devotion, values and his bravery inspire every section of Indian people. “My wish was that people of the tribal community who know the Santhali language could also recite Hanuman Chalisa. I am happy that this wish of mine has been fulfilled,” he said. Very soon he is also going to translate Ramayana and Mahabharata into Santhali.

Making tribal society aware is a priority

According to Rabilal, the tradition of tribals has been eternal since ancient times. There are many incidents in Hindu scriptures which give us the pride of being Sanatani. In society, if a newborn is born in a person’s house, then after applying oil on it, the child is named by Nike Hadam, this tradition is a part of Sanatan culture. Similarly, there is a tradition among the tribals to perform Shraddha as per the rituals after 12 days of death. Tribal traditions are a reflection of the basic concept of Sanatan. My effort is to make the tribal society aware and developed, hew added.

Love for Hanumanji increased while reading Sunderkand

Rabilal says, there were no teachers of Santali as an optional subject in Singhvahini Plus Two School of Kundhit. “In such a situation, I chose to study Sanskrit subject. Teacher Umesh Kumar Pandey got me interviewed on the Sanskrit subject. Gradually, I became so interested in Sanskrit that I decided to study this subject further. During this period, I also read Ramayana and Mahabharata many times. It was while reading Sunderkand that my love for Veer Hanuman increased in my mind. It took me about six months to translate. My teacher also took the responsibility of publication,” he pointed out.

Now Rabi is translating Ramcharitmanas and Mahabharata. He said that the Santhali language is written in Olchiki script. This script was discovered by Pandit Raghunath Murmu in 1925. This script is related to the famous grammarian Panini’s Ashtadhyayi. For this reason, many Sanskrit words are included in the Santhali language.
