Patna, July 5: In a shocking incident, well-known industrialist Gopal Khemka was shot dead late Friday night in Patna. The incident occurred in the Gandhi Maidan police station area, considered one of the most secure zones in the city.

The brutal murder has left the Khemka family and the entire city in deep shock. What’s even more alarming is that Gopal Khemka’s son, Gunjan Khemka, was similarly shot dead exactly six years ago.
Attack Outside Home by Bike-borne Assailants
According to reports, the incident took place around 11:30 PM on Friday when Gopal Khemka returned home from Bankipore Club. As he got out of his car, two men on a motorcycle approached and shot him in the head from close range before fleeing the scene. He was rushed to the hospital by family members but was declared dead on arrival.

SIT Formed Under City SP for Investigation
A forensic team arrived at the scene on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Bihar Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder, which will be led by the City SP Central.
Family Alleges Police Inaction
Khemka’s family has leveled serious allegations against the police. They claim that although Gandhi Maidan police station is just 300 meters from the spot, it took officers nearly two hours to arrive.

His brother, Shankar Khemka, said, “We informed the police immediately, but no one came on time.” However, police maintain they received the information late.
Khemka’s Son was Shot Dead 6 Years Ago
This is not the first time the Khemka family has been targeted. On December 20, 2018, Gopal Khemka’s son Gunjan Khemka was shot dead in a similar fashion. That murder was reportedly orchestrated by criminals lodged in jail.

Following the incident, Patna SSP Kartikey Sharma, City SP Pappu Yadav, and the FSL team visited the crime scene. Police are examining CCTV footage and searching for suspects. Patna Central SP Diksha said that a bullet and shell casing have been recovered from the site, and forensic investigations are underway.
