Jamshedpur, July 5: The monsoon has intensified across Jharkhand, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall over various parts of the state between July 5 and 7.

Isolated pockets may witness intense weather activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 Kmph.

Rainfall Forecast Breakdown

July 5 (Saturday):

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over North-West and North-Central Jharkhand.

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 Kmph) is expected at isolated locations throughout the state.

July 6 (Sunday):

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over South-Western and adjoining Central Jharkhand.

Heavy rainfall may also occur at isolated pockets in South-Eastern and adjoining Northern regions.

Thunderstorm/lightning activity with gusty winds remains a threat statewide.

July 7 (Monday):

Heavy rainfall is forecast for isolated areas in Southern and adjoining Central Jharkhand.

Thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (30–40 Kmph) may affect several locations.

Synoptic Overview

The current monsoon dynamics are being influenced by several key systems.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level is active and extends from Bikaner to the northeast Bay of Bengal via Jaipur, Datia, Sidhi, Asansol, and Kolkata.

An upper air cyclonic circulation over the northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas persists up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level, with a southward tilt—a sign of a deepening system.

A trough line at 3.1 Km above mean sea level stretches from the northeast Arabian Sea to northwest Bay of Bengal, passing through north Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, further fueling instability and moisture inflow.
