New Delhi, Dec 27: Beginning on January 14, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will embark on the second iteration of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Renamed the ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’, the march will travel from Manipur in the northeast to Mumbai in Maharashtra in the west, covering the eastern to western regions of the nation.

On January 14, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the march from Manipur.

To cover 85 districts across 14 states

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Nyay Yatra will pass through up to 85 districts spread over 14 states. 6,200 kilometres will be covered by the march through the states of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Bharat Nyay Yatra will utilize buses as the primary mode of transportation to ensure widespread accessibility for people. Throughout the march, there will be brief intervals of walking.

KC Venugopal made the announcement

At a press conference on Wednesday, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal made the announcement. The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, and finished in Kashmir covering 4,500 kilometres, was dubbed a “historic yatra” by him.

Now, Rahul Gandhi is doing a yatra with great experience from the first Bharat Jodo Yatra. This yatra is going to (be about interacting with) youth, women and marginalised people,” KC Venugopal stated.

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, in which the Congress and members of its INDIA alliance are fighting to topple the BJP, the Bharat Nyay Yatra announcement has been made.
